July has officially started! I guess you could say it started on the 1st because it was my birthday, but no. For me, it always starts with the 4th of July. I always got excited for my birthday but I would get even more excited because it meant the 4th of July was soon upon us.
Fortunately, this year we were able to spend it in Manti with my family but unfortunately, Dave had to work and wasn't able to spend it with us. Things just aren't quite the same when someone is gone but we made the most of it.
The 4th of July, to me, means spending the day at the Manti City park playing games, eating hamburgers and, most importantly, people watching. We staked our place out under a nice, big, shady tree where we were able to travel to and from the different activities. Our favorite is the egg toss. The Maylett's are usually some of the last egg tossers standing and this year was no exception. Paityn and I did the mother/daughter toss and got out on the first toss. It was either because Paityn didn't catch it or I threw it too high. I'll take the blame on that one. Later my dad and I made it to the top 5 and my sister and I made it to the top 4. My dad and neice won a toss together and so did my brother-in-law. It's serious business. We loved the free watermelon, the tug-of-war, the facepainting and just relaxing in the shade.
Paityn and Andee both went to the tug-of-war and got SOAKED! They didn't seem to mind and dried off pretty fast.
Above are the after pictures of Paityn and Andee and below are the before pictures. They both looked so cute before we went to the park, but between the heat and getting wet and just running around, they got pretty homely-looking.
After an exciting day at the park we CRASHED!!!!! We had a lot of fun!

Looks like you had a great day! I haven't been to the park in Manti for the 4th for 3 years now. I've GOT to get back there!
How fun! I remember going to the Manti park with you when we were younger. I havn't been down Sanpete way for a while because my parents have been on a mission, and since they have been back my family is so used to getting together up here that they usually come up here. I need to visit more often. Your girls are beautiful. I would love to get together with you sometime. Happy late birthday!
First of all your girls could NEVER look even "kind of" homely!!! Looks like an amazing 4th. That's exaclty what the 4th should be like - watermelon, games, parade, fireworks, family - maybe we need to move to Manti! Looks so fun!! Glad you had a good time. Sorry Dave couldn't be with you. :o(
Sounds like a lot of fun! It's nice being with family & friends & just sitting back & enjoying the time together!~Wendy S.
It was fun to see you on the 4th. How is Jason's daughter doing? I hope that she is doing good, that was a scary fall!!! There is just nothing like the 4th of July in Manti, I think we grew up in the best city/town ever!!!
Happy Birthday! I hope they carried you on a velvet pillow and fed you ice cream bons bons all day! You deserve it.
Cute pics! The horseride was on the SW corner of the park. It was cute to see Lindsey's reaction. She loves horses!!
It's always a party in Manti! Looks like you had fun on the 4th. Have I told you how freakin cute your girls are?
What great pictures. The girls are adorable as always and how fun to have a hometown celebration on the 4th. I miss living in a
small(er) town.
It was good to see you guys in Manti. Hope you guys have a great summer.
